When I started analysing the sales data, I made some mistakes which are very impactful things for the final results.
1. Data inconsistency
When the data came from the source, I directly started modelling to load into the analytics software. Then, I made some changes in the data modelling like Database structure.
It cause the delay in my analysis. Also, found some inconsistency in the result due to the frequent changes.
2. Communication gap
For some time, I’ve to get the frequent update from the team and some time, I’ve to share my update with the team. I failed in both cases, not all time, but, in rare cases.
The impact of this was, error in the result and also increased the time for obtain the results.
3. Data inaccuracy
Even Though the data came from the reliable sources, there was some issues in the dataset. I failed to notice that. I taught, the data was correct because of the reliability of the source, but, it's totally wrong. That is, there were not wrong in data, but, wrong in understanding the data’s accuracy.
Again, this issue causes the delay in my result.
4. Unreliability of the external sources
I scraped some data from the external sources which are very important to the current analysis. Stupidly, I chose the external data source without understanding the data type and result of the source.
After a long time, I realized that, the data which are scraped from the website is in wrong format. Then, I changed the format and reloaded to the analysis system.
Conclusion
These are some important mistakes I made during my first experience. Even though the dataset is small in size, the understanding of data is very big. These are my experience, and some of these may be yours. Definitely, I won’t make these mistakes in future
